East Vancouver Technical Acceleration Lab
"Doctor... his BPM is currently sitting at over 145, we need to lower it to 120 in the next four bars or it won't end well..."
"Clear the room! Drop the High EQs on Channel 2, and for God’s sake, do not touch the Sync button! Nudge the platter manually..."
Endless YouTube tutorials won't save you. Real stage repetitions will.
DJ Hospital is a premium, 6-week intensive triage for adult beginners in Vancouver who want to bypass bedroom-DJ roadblocks and develop ironclad performance confidence. We merge intentional instructional design with tactical skill-building to prepare you for the live booth.
Mastering track architecture, phrase counting (the 32-beat rule), and dropping Track B precisely on the "1" beat by ear.
Isolating frequencies and volume steps. Executing clean transitions without crossing basslines or muddying the mix.
Disabling the Sync trap. Manually aligning mismatched tempos using the pitch slider and jog wheel under pressure.
Deploying creative loops and filter effects to safely manipulate structural layout or escape difficult track transitions.
Exporting playlists via Sync Manager. Navigating booth etiquette, promotional workflows, and a full 15-minute dress rehearsal.
The non-negotiable graduation milestone. You perform a continuous 15-minute solo set live on stage at The Biltmore Cabaret. Every set is recorded straight from the mixer board for your permanent reel.

"Before we operate, we need your vitals." You walk into the room with Metric's 'Monster Hospital' pulsing. There is a physical blood pressure cuff at your station. You squeeze the pump to the beat until you feel the baseline pulse of dance music in your actual hands.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE:
By the end of this session, students will be able to analyze track anatomy, identify 32-beat structural phrases by ear, and execute a precision grid drop-in on the primary beat using a manual countdown approach.
HOMEWORK: Identify and log the phrase changes of 5 tracks in your library.
